How to up the testosterone in da kitchen!

I was wandering through the kitchen wondering how to add a bit more machismo to it. Perusing through the appliances I mumbled to myself checking off the appliances. The stove? No, it can burn stuff and cause fires, fairly macho. Aha! The refrigerator! No, that keeps beer cold AND freezes steaks. Can't get better than that. Coffee maker? Nope, I mean it makes coffee! Certainly there was an inherently non-macho appliance in the house. And then, an epiphany! The wussy ass blender! I know what you are thinking. It has sharp blades and a motor. Yes it does, and what is the only thing anyone actually uses it for? Making girlie drinks! Little teenie blades can't make up for that! So, I needed a blender with bigger blades or a bigger motor to balance out all the girlie drinks. And the solution? A bigger motor....and motorcycle grips for speed control.....now that is waaay macho!

The Daiquiri Whacker Gas Powered Portable Blender
The Daiquiri Whacker gas powered blender takes the fine art of blending drinks to the Extreme! The Daiquiri Whacker is totally portable! No longer are you restricted by extension cords or generators. The 23cc Homelite motor has enough power to whip up a batch of your favorite blended drink faster than you can say "Dos Margaritas Por Favor!"

The world's first movie recording on a preformatted Holographic Disc.

The world's first movie recording on a preformatted Holographic Disc.
Holographic recording technology records data on discs in the form of laser interference fringes, enabling existing discs the same size as today's DVDs to store as much as one terabyte of data (200 times the capacity of a single layer DVD), with a transfer speed of one gigabyte per second (40 times the speed of DVD). This approach is rapidly gaining attention as a high-capacity, high-speed data storage technology for the age of broadband.

About freakin' time! I was a big fan of this tech about ten years ago. Took the sorry bastards this long to develop the first real working model. However, the specs are pretty nice. I sure wouldn't mind a terabyte on a disc and faster too. Of course the real question is how much the bloody thing is gonna cost. It better be cheap. I want my terabytes dammit!

Every Step You Take . . . Every Move You Make . . . My GPS Unit Will Be Watching You

Every Step You Take . . . Every Move You Make . . . My GPS Unit Will Be Watching You - Popular Science
hey fell for each other in grade school, in the sweetest of ways. In fifth-grade music class, she played saxophone; he played the snare drum. In high school biology, she held the frog while he wielded the scalpel. It was the sort of love story immortalized endlessly in romance novels and Top 40 long-distance dedications. “I thought when I married him it really would be ’till death do us part,’ ” she says now, still surprised that the marriage ended after 19 years. Ultimately, the romance had sputtered to a close, as so many love stories do. Unlike most love stories, though, this ending involved satellites.

Ahhhh, who says technology doesn't make things easier? A disturbing ,but unfortunately, unsuprising article from Popular Science about tech stalking. I will say that as soon as I read about the GPS enabled phones my first thought was exactly along the line of the article. Toss the old cell phone in the wife's trunk and track her in realtime over the web. I can't imagine why all the privacy people are up in arms about RFID.

First digicam below $5,000 that matches film quality - OCT 15, 2004

First digicam below $5,000 that matches film quality - OCT 15, 2004
The EOS 20D is the latest digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera body created for the serious shutterbug or semi-professional market. In the short history of digital cameras, this particular 8-megapixel body represents a very important milestone. In my opinion, it is the first DSLR that effectively matches or exceeds film quality at a price that's below $5,000. Imagine, just six years ago, a Canon professional DSLR with a 2-megapixel resolution cost $30,000 at its launch.

Looks like the beginning of the end for traditional film cameras. Granted the $3000 price tag is a bit more than a film camera. However at a 1000% price drop over 6 years you can expect sub-$1000 film quality cameras in a couple years. I would guess in 10 years film cameras will be relegated to the hippy art-student crowd.

Warped Satellites Prove Einstein Theory -Scientists

Yahoo! News - Warped Satellites Prove Einstein Theory -Scientists
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Einstein was right -- again. Satellites that have been pulled slightly off their orbits show that the Earth is indeed twisting the fabric of space-time as it rotates, scientists said on Thursday.
They said their findings are the first to directly measure and prove an important aspect of Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity -- that a rotating body warps and twists the "fabric" that combines the three dimensions of space and the fourth dimension of time.

Chalk another one up for Relativity! Now if the Gravity Probe B returns the same results it will pretty much stop the clock (clock, time....get it? What do you expect, it's early) on any lingering debate about its validity.

ThinkGeek :: ThermalTake XRay
Leave it to the folks at ThermalTake to improve upon the idea of a cigarette light power adapter for the PC. Now, not only can you light up a smoke or recharge your cell phone, but you LAN party folks out there have a convenient place to keep your caffeinated beverages while you're fragging away with your pals.

Well, I don't know about the lighter, but two thumbs up on the cup holder.

Claro holographic TV is drop-dead gorgeous

gadgetryblog: Claro holographic TV is drop-dead gorgeous
If you're looking for the wow factor in your living room, look no further. The Claro holographic TV (£14,999 plus £9,999 for matching speakers) is one of the most eye-catching consumer devices I've ever seen. It's also unique in the way that it delivers video using a transparent glass TV and media system based on holographic technology.

Now that is a sweet looking TV. Of course, the $20,000 is slightly out of my price range. Had to marry a teacher.....

Poor, Uninsured Don't Fill Emergency Rooms -- Study

Yahoo! News - Poor, Uninsured Don't Fill Emergency Rooms -- Study
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A new study on emergency rooms disputes the common wisdom that the poor and uninsured are filling them up.
In fact, more than 80 percent of patients seen in emergency rooms have health insurance and a usual source of health care such as a primary care physician, doctors reported on Tuesday.

Looks like Cartmans (one of Baa's and mine "token" republican friends) theory on inflated hospital costs has a small hole in it.....

Yahoo! News - U.S. Troops Who Refused Duty in Iraq Cited Safety
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Preliminary investigations into the refusal of 18 U.S. soldiers to go on a convoy mission in Iraq (news - web sites) showed they had raised concerns about safety and the condition of their vehicles, the army said Sunday.

Wow, this can't be good. You know you got problems when troops are refusing to deploy.

ELECTRONIC INCENSER

ELECTRONIC INCENSER
It is extremely easy to use and fully automatic; infact, with just a simple touch of a switch the incense will start to burn after a few seconds for the preset time of 3 minutes.

Ummm...well....ummmm.....errrr....I had absolutely NO idea that there was a need for such a product. Of course, considering the odds of me bursting into flames entering any establishment that uses incense, I can plead ignorance with a bit of justification.

Room Defender

MIG 25 Room Defender - from I Want One Of Those
Ever since we first had our own bedroom it has been imperative to ensure no-one got in and started snooping around amongst our stuff. Keep Out signs are all very well, but they're not much of a deterrent to determined parents and irritating and nosy brothers and sisters. What's needed is some serious armament, and the Room Defender is it. Mounted on three gun-turret style legs, the Room Defender will protect your privacy from prying snoopers. It has a motion sensor alarm, so when someone enters your room it will give a verbal warning to the intruder, then fire a warning shot (in the form of a foam disc).

How insanely awesome is this?!?! Must have one!

George W. Bush Doll

George W. Bush
Ah George, George, ever since you managed to become President of the United States of America without actually having to win the election, you've succeeded in becoming a glowing example of world leadership to us all.
So it comes as no surprise that your impressive leadership has resulted in you being forever immortalised in this scarily life-like effigy, this beautifully hand-crafted testament to your greatness, this work of art to celebrate your searing intellect. Lovingly cast in the highest quality plastic, as befits your stature, this wonderful sculpture (sic) is absolutely stuffed with a seemingly endless stream of your most delightfully asinine 'Bushisms'. Who can forget such timeless gems as "Rarely is the question asked is our children learning", and the inspiring "A strong America, is an America based on strong families". These greats among dozens more are just the touch of a button away.

You ever get the feeling that our English friends aren't too impressed with Georgie? I really want to get one of these. I think it would be a blast when I have one of my token republican friends over.

MIG 25 Space Explorer

MIG 25 Space Explorer - from I Want One Of Those
"This is as close as it gets to seeing what an astronaut sees as they look back at our lonely little planet from the vast emptiness of space. This has to be the ultimate combination of adrenaline rush and spiritual high, flying at Mach 2.5, 25 kilometres into the upper atmosphere (where you'll be above 99% of it, by the way), in a MiG-25 Foxbat with over 1000km of horizon before (or actually beneath) you."

Sweeet! Fly in a Foxbat for only $13,000. I wonder if I can sneak this past da wife....

Thermaltake Total Watts Viewer 480W PSU

ThinkGeek :: Thermaltake Total Watts Viewer 480W PSU
he TWV480 is a quiet, but powerful 480 watt power supply with a twist. It includes a bay-mounted display which actively displays the actual wattage being used by your system. Sure, it catches the eye, but it also helps to quickly diagnose if system problems are due to a lack of available power.

The bay mounted display is cool (the more blinky lights the better) and at $80 for a 480 watt power supply a steal. And as a bonus its quiet too. I'm seriously thinking about picking this one up....
