The Mars rover Opportunity resumed rolling freely across the Martian surface Saturday after scientists freed it from a sand dune where it had been mired for nearly five weeks,
NASA officials said.

Woot! I just love these little guys.

Awesome! I've been following their 14 month journey - they're doing wonderous things for bots made to only last 3 months - Mars has some fucked up weather.

Did you see on the NASA site the footage of a dust devil swirling across the Meridian plain? Sweet!!!

I have to find the link (it's on the laptop and I'm on the Mac right now), but as I was surfing around NASA websites I came across an archive of photos taken by astronauts and cosmonauts in most of the manned missions EVER FLOWN. Some really neat-o stuff. You can download color-corrected full-screen shots of cities, volcanoes, whole islands...crazy. I'll find it and post it.
